Vocals, Keyboards – Christine McVie

Compiled & remastered by Mr. Sifter.

Source 1: Westwood One PC84-52 (on disc) for airing the week of 12/17 1984
Source 2: Westwood One P84-19 for broadcast week of 4/30/84
Source 3: DADDY 515 MASTER TAPE > SONY RCD W500 > EAC > FLAC 8 > TLH > YOU.

12 of the 14 tracks come from Sources 1 & 2, the original pre-FM LP's, unfortunately there is no circulating pre-FM of the complete show even though LP's exist (Westwood One In Concert IC-19), so two tracks "I'm The One" and "World Turning" were sourced from an FM capture of the broadcast. As of October 2025, this is the most complete version of this show from the best lossless sources available.

Phil Collins - Live at Perkins Palace 1982 Complete (Mr. Sifter reconstruction & remaster)

Phil Collins
December 19, 1982
Perkins Palace
Pasadena, CA

A Mr. Sifter pre-FM reconstruction/remaster.

This was compiled from several sources: The majority from a King Biscuit CD used for a 1993 broadcast, with another stray track coming from another KBFH CD in 1998. Three or four tracks were only ever pressed on vinyl, those are taken from original KBFH LP's. Two further tracks ("Thunder and Lightning" and "If Leaving Me Is Easy") were never broadcast, and had to be sourced from Wolfgang's Vault. I used Izotope Spectral Recovery to attempt to minimize a bit of the lossy mp3 source, but in my search there is no truly lossless source for those two tracks.

Some of the banter and band introduction bits were taken from Philadelphia a week earlier, I have not attempted to rectify any discrepancies there, this is just about getting all the music played on that night in one place, in the best possible sound.

Please enjoy, play loudly, and don't distribute in lossy formats.

Remastered by Mr. Sifter, December 2024

Remaster notes:

Speed corrected, the bootleg circulating ran about a half-step too fast. Bass and drums were overly dominant, often drowning out Bob and GE's guitars, reduced the drums around -3db and boosted the guitars slightly using RX11 Music Rebalance. Cut some of the low rumble below 50hz to reduce excessive bass without removing Kenny's presence. Vocals still nice and clear in the mix. Turn up loud and enjoy.

Simon & Garfunkel - Vancouver, BC August 22, 1983 "Listen To The Silence" (Mr. Sifter Remaster)

Simon & Garfunkel

Vancouver, British Columbia
August 22, 1983

lineage: from silvers "Listen to the Silence">EAC>FLAC > remaster

Remastered by Mr. Sifter, August 2024.

Remastering notes:

Removed a 60hz hum present throughout most of the recording, as well as reduced some (not all) of the hiss from clearly a cassette source. Did some modest polishing to the sound, added very slight reverb to make it feel a bit more like a live album (BC Place can hold 60,000 for concerts), but without detracting from the detail in the soundboard. Removed the annoying close clapper between songs. Removed the break between discs for a seamless transition. Retracked the show to split medleys.

A good show towards the end of the reunion tour, with a few notable arrangement differences from the Central Park gig, several different band members, a couple S&G songs not performed in 1981, and three 'Hearts and Bones' songs.

Dave Weckl - Drums

Remastered and speed corrected by Mr. Sifter, July 2024. Some songs have incomplete intros/outros, and "Southbound" has a cut in the middle. Not anyone's favorite era but an overlooked era, with full 5 songs off 'Brothers Of The Road,' an album they'd never return to again after the tour ended a couple months later.

Source: "Jimmy Rocks!" CD-R bootleg

Remastered by Mr. Sifter, February 2024.

This was a pretty rough tape, definitely a 2nd or 3rd gen copy of the original SBD, almost not worth working with but for the inclusion of the rarely played "Jig Is Up." Unfortunately to get any real detail out of this tape meant introducing some of the kind of prickly treble that is often unappetizing, so it's a bit of a lesser of two evils choice for this show. On the other hand, the SBD recording itself is very well recorded, a nice balance of both guitars, hopefully a lower gen tape will surface one day.

Source: "Come Together" soundboard bootleg https://www.discogs.com/master/722471-Aerosmith-Come-Together > Remastered via DeMix Pro & Isotope Ozone

Remaster notes:

A VERY clean (digital?) soundboard from 1988. Unfortunately along with that crispness came a frustrating lack of bass. "And Justice For All" had come out mere weeks before...coincidence? Isolated Tom's bass as much as possible via DeMix Pro, separated the vocal track to get a better balance, but left the rest alone. Boosted the overall low end in mastering to help boost Tom's presence and compensate for the thinness of the original sources as well, and attempted to minimize an annoying high frequency in the high hat a bit.

The overproduced Permanent Vacation tracks like "Dude" and "Rag Doll" that have a lot of processed drums and tracks/keyboard samples don't fare as well, they're much more blatant in this mix than presumably were in the house that night, but overall this is still a solid document of their early MTV era.

So, who knows if the story below that came with the original distribution is true, but there's so little unreleased Rush studio material out there that this tape seemed worth the time to work on and see what could be done. The quality and sonics varied from track to track, and overall it (understandably) bears all the hallmarks of a 2nd or 3rd gen dub or poor quality cassettes/decks used in making this source tape.

Don't expect miracles, but I have tried to draw a bit more detail and depth out of what was on the cassettes, as always it may or may not be to a listener's particular tastes. I reduced some of the tape noise, rebalanced the sound to bring Geddy's vocals out a bit more, and did some overall EQ.

Power Windows Demo Tape
Original Version (No Noise Reduction)
UltimoGuitarist's cassette tape of the Power Windows Demos
Encoded with Tag&Rename

"Alright guys. I think i've stumbled across a rare gem that no one out there has or has heard.

Our drummer showed played me a cassette tape of Power Windows in its entirety before it was even taken to the recording studio. That's right, sort of like a pre power windows personal recording of Alex's.

Now, he says that he's probably the only one who has it, and here's why.

Apparently a friend of his was walking downtown in Toronto, and Alex Lifeson's son had this tape, and was shouting out, "listen to my dads new album power windows!!" etc. And this friend of my drummers was given the tape by lifesons son, and then gave it to our drummer since he knew he was a hardcore Rush fan.

So now our drummer has this tape, and he's certain that no one else has it, so I wanted to check in with you guys to see if anyone else out there has it, and whether or not its worth it to make it public.

For the record, he played the tape for me, and I listened to manhattan project, and he wasnt lying. Completely different arrangements and a nice home made sound to recording. It's like sitting in the house with them while they jam. Quite amazing.

So he's going to back it up to CD, and give me a copy, and i'll make it public for you all to hear if this is something that no one knows of. So let me know.

This isnt one of those lame threads of someone just making up BS for something to do. I wouldn't yank your chains. This thing is real, and im willing to share it with you guys if you wanna hear it. I'm gonna stay on him and make sure he puts it to CD for me."

Speed corrected & remastered by Mr. Sifter, Dec. 2023

Thanks to Oldtorrenttrader on TTD for uploading this. I'd heard several captures of this show and this was the clearest sounding one I'd heard, however it ran about a half-step slow and was missing "Chinese Detectives" and the first couple seconds of "In My Room." I speed corrected in Audacity, edited the missing track and beginning of "In My Room" back in from a different source, and applied some light EQ and noise removal using Izotope RX10.

R.E.M. - Opera House, Lawrence, KS 11/16/1982 ("Listen Harder") Remix & Remaster

 R.E.M.
Opera House, Lawrence KS
November 16, 1982

lineage: "Listen Harder" silver CD bootleg

Remixed & remastered by Mr. Sifter, December 2023 using htdemucs v4, Logic Pro, and Izotope Ozone.

The original bootleg had guitars/bass and drums/vocals awkwardly hard panned left and right, respectively. Rebalanced the stereo image to address this, and tried to bring out the vocals a bit more. Given the amount of tape noise, the source tape was at least a generation or two removed from the master, so toned that down a bit as well, affecting the tonality of the music as little as possible. As always, the sound caters to my own personal preferences, but I hope some REM fans will enjoy this revamped, excellent early show, about seven weeks before they'd begin recording "Murmur."

(The original silver disc bootleg included bonus tracks from Toronto 1983, as that show circulates in its complete form, those are not included here)

Kiss - "Shit Fits At The Ritz" (Mr. Sifter Remaster) 8/12/88 The Ritz, New York, NY

Kiss
The Ritz, New York, NY, USA
1988-08-12

Source: "Shit Fits At The Ritz" bootleg

Remastered by Mr. Sifter, November 2023.

This was the better sounding of the multiple FM sources I had of this show, however it ran a half step slow (Kiss was in standard tuning for this tour). Speed corrected, a few ~15 second missing sections from this boot were patched with another source, awkward radio DJ banter and station ID's cut. Drums/bass processed to beef them up a bit, overall EQ tweaked. It's still an FM broadcast, with the reduced dynamic and frequency range that involves, but hopefully this is an improvement on the raw cassette capture. Great show, with Kiss returning to their NY club roots, but with 15 years of additional experience and material.
